Grainger (NYSE:GWW) announced today that its Board of Directors has approved the purchase of $3 billion of its common stock over the next three years. The share repurchase will be financed with a combination of cash and the issuance of new, permanent debt. In addition, the Board increased the repurchase authorization to 15 million shares. This replaces a prior program of 10 million shares approved in April 2014.
W.W. Grainger is a distributor of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) products and services in North America, Japan and Europe. Co.'s MRO product offering is grouped under material-handling equipment, safety and security supplies, lighting and electrical products, power and hand tools, pumps and plumbing supplies, cleaning and maintenance supplies and metalworking tools categories. Co.'s segments are the U.S., which provides MRO products and services through its eCommerce platform, catalogs, branches and sales and service representatives; and Canada, which serves Canadian customers through its distribution center and branch network as well as sales and service representatives.
