Details: Facebook announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire WhatsApp, a rapidly growing cross-platform mobile messaging company, for a total of approximately $16 billion, including $4 billion in cash and approximately $12 billion worth of Facebook shares. The agreement also provides for an additional $3 billion in restricted stock units to be granted to WhatsApp's founders and employees that will vest over four years subsequent to closing.

Meta Platform is building products that enable people to connect and share with friends and family through mobile devices, personal computers, virtual reality headsets, and in-home devices. Co.'s products include: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Facebook Reality Labs. Co. sells advertising placements to marketers. Co.'s ads enable marketers to reach people based on a variety of factors including age, gender, location, interests, and behaviors. Marketers purchase ads that can appear in several places including on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and third-party applications and websites.
