Wabash National Corporation (NYSE:WNC) today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire certain assets of the tank and trailer business of Beall Corporation, a Portland, Oregon-based manufacturer of aluminum tank trailers and related equipment, for approximately $15 million in cash. The acquisition is expected to close during the first quarter of 2013.
Wabash National provides solutions for the transportation, logistics, and distribution industries. Co.'s business segments include: Transportation Solutions, which comprises the design and manufacturing operations for Co.'s transportation-related equipment and products including dry and refrigerated van trailers, platform trailers, and its wood flooring production facility; and Parts & Services (P&S), which is comprised of each of Co.'s segments' parts and services businesses as well as the upfitting component of its truck bodies business. Co.'s Composites business, which focuses on the use of DuraPlate® composite panels beyond the semi-trailer market, is also part of the P&S segment.
