Fomento Econmico Mexicano, S.A.B. de C.V. announced that its retail subsidiary FEMSA Comercio has acquired Farmacias FM Moderna, a leading drugstore operator in the western state of Sinaloa. This transaction follows the recent acquisition of a controlling stake in Farmacias Yza in the southeast of Mexico, as FEMSA Comercio advances in its strategy to establish a relevant position in this attractive small-box retail segment.
Fomento Economico Mexicano participates in: the beverage industry, through its subsidiary Coca-Cola FEMSA, S.A.B. de C.V. a franchise bottler of Coca-Cola products; the retail industry, through its subsidiary FEMSA Comercio, S.A. de C.V. comprised of the Proximity Division, operating the OXXO store chain, the Fuel Division, operating the OXXO Gas chain of retail service stations and the Health Division, which includes drugstores and related operations; the beer industry, through the Heineken Investment; and other ancillary businesses, through its Other Businesses, including logistics services, distribution, point-of-sale refrigeration, food processing equipment and plastics solutions.
