Riverbed Technology, the performance company, today announced that it has closed its acquisition of OPNET Technologies, Inc. Through this acquisition, Riverbed is now the leader in the converging application and network performance management markets. The Riverbed Cascade business unit and OPNET will be combined into the new Riverbed Performance Management business unit and will be led by General Manager Paul Brady.
Riverbed Technology is engaged in application performance infrastructure. Co.'s Riverbed Application Performance Platform is a set of integrated solutions that host applications and data in certain locations. The platform is divided into two product lines: Application Acceleration, which consists of Co.'s wide area network optimization products, its Stingray virtual application delivery controllers, and its Whitewater cloud storage delivery products; and Performance Management, which includes its network performance management, application performance management, network engineering, operations and planning, and network simulation and modeling products.
