GenCorp Inc. (NYSE:GY) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all operations of the Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne business (Rocketdyne) from United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX). GenCorp will combine Rocketdyne with Aerojet-General Corporation (Aerojet), a wholly-owned subsidiary of GenCorp, and the combined businesses will operate as Aerojet Rocketdyne, Inc., headquartered in Sacramento, California.
GenCorp is a manufacturer of aerospace and defense products and systems with a real estate segment that includes activities related to the re-zoning, entitlement, sale, and leasing of its excess real estate assets. Co. develops and manufactures propulsion systems for defense and space applications, and armaments for tactical and long range weapon systems applications. Co.'s operations are organized into two segments: Aerospace and Defense, which is a technology-based designer, developer and manufacturer of aerospace and defense products and systems; and Real Estate, which includes the activities related to the re-zoning, entitlement, sale, and leasing of Co.'s excess real estate assets.
