UnitedHealth Group and Amil Participaes S.A. announced that the companies have agreed to merge, bringing together two leading organizations with the broad scale, distinctive resources and advanced technology to help modernize the performance of the health systems and serve the health care needs of consumers in their markets in the Americas.
UnitedHealth Group is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co.'s two business platforms, Optum and UnitedHealthcare, are working to help build a health system through improved access for the individuals and organization it serves. Co.'s segments are: Optum Health, which delivers care, care management, wellness and consumer engagement, and health financial services; Optum Insight, which provides data, analytics, research, consulting, technology and managed services solutions; Optum Rx, which provides pharmacy care services; and UnitedHealthcare, which includes UnitedHealthcare Employer and Individual, UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Retirement and UnitedHealthcare Community and State.
