Chevron Corporation announced that its subsidiary, Chevron U.S.A. Inc., has agreed to acquire 246,000 net leasehold acres in the Delaware Basin in New Mexico, a part of the Permian Basin, from Chesapeake Energy Corporation. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Chevron is engaged in energy and chemicals operations. Upstream operations consist primarily of, among others, exploring for, developing, producing and transporting crude oil and natural gas; processing, liquefaction, transportation and regasification associated with liquefied natural gas; transporting, storage and marketing of natural gas; and a gas-to-liquids plant. Downstream operations consist primarily of, among others, refining crude oil into petroleum products; marketing of crude oil, refined products and lubricants; and manufacturing and marketing of commodity petrochemicals, plastics for industrial uses and fuel and lubricant additives.
