Assets of Dillon Yarn's American Drawtech Business
Details:
Unifi, Inc. (NYSE: UFI) announced today that it has purchased the assets of American Drawtech, a division of Dillon Yarn Corporation, which were relocated to the Company's Yadkinville, North Carolina, manufacturing facility in June 2013, as part of a commissioning agreement between the two companies. Unifi purchased the assets, which consist of draw winding equipment, as part of its mix enrichment strategy that includes introducing REPREVE and other premier value-added (PVA) products into the mid-tenacity flat yarn markets. The assets will increase the Company's production capacity in the growing regional market, which will allow Unifi to expand its presence in targeted industrial and thread markets. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
Unifi manufactures and sells recycled and synthetic products, made from polyester and nylon, primarily to other yarn manufacturers and knitters and weavers that produce yarn and/or fabric for the apparel, hosiery, home furnishings, automotive, industrial, medical, and other end-use markets. Polyester products include partially oriented yarn and textured, solution and package dyed, twisted, beamed, and draw wound yarns. Recycled solutions, made from both pre-consumer and post-consumer waste, include plastic bottle flake, polyester polymer beads, and staple fiber. Nylon products include virgin or recycled textured, solution dyed, and spandex covered yarns.
