Furthering its goal of bringing content to consumers on all the platforms they prefer, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) has agreed to acquire Maker Studios, the leading network of online video content on YouTube.
Walt Disney is an entertainment company. Co.'s segments are: Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution (DMED) and Disney Parks, Experiences and Products (DPEP). DMED segment encompasses film and episodic television (TV) content production and distribution activities through its business lines: linear networks, such as domestic and international branded television channels; Direct-to-Consumer, such as subscription services that provide video streaming and digital content distribution services; and Content Sales/Licensing, such as TV/subscription video-on-demand, theatrical and home entertainment distribution. DPEP segment consist of theme parks and resorts and consumer products operations.
