China Hydroelectric is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is engaged in the operation and development of hydroelectric assets and the generation of hydroelectric power in the People's Republic of China ("PRC"). Co. wholly owns twenty-two operating hydroelectric power projects and has a controlling interest in three additional operating hydroelectric power projects. Co.'s operating hydroelectric power projects are located in four provinces in PRC: Zhejiang, Fujian, Yunnan and Sichuan. As of Dec 31 2012, installed capacity at Co.'s plants reached 517.8 megawatts.
